PDE (Prenatal Drug Exposure)

Dear Julie,

I’m writing to let you know how Gavin is doing on the PCM-Rx, the product that calms as well as detoxes.

As you know, Gavin was adopted, and the levels of toxicity he endured in utero may never be known. We do know that he was born with high levels of amphetamines in his blood, and his birth mom was also positive for barbiturates. I suspect his nutrition in utero was not optimal, to say the least. He had three surgeries with general anesthesia in his first 15 months, and was on Ibuprofen around the clock for close to a year after birth. This was not stopped until he was 15 months old, when he was finally out of pain. He not only had to receive all vaccines (as he was still considered a foster child at that point), but due to an MD allegedly watering vaccines, he had to get three DPT’s repeated. It is hard to guess how all of that impacted such a little body, as he was only 4 lbs. 2 oz. at birth, at one year he only weighed 15 lbs.

We started him on the PCM-Rx back in January 2007. He is a very toxic little boy, as you can see from the information above. We have kept him on this product for these past few months. We tried the NG-Rx at one point, but we feel that there is still so much detoxing to do, that we decided to stop the NG-Rx for the time being. We anticipate starting the NG-Rx in the Fall.

So here goes: Gavin is now sleeping through the night almost every night. He now lies quietly in bed until he falls asleep on his own, which is huge. We used to literally hold him in bed until he was asleep, which took an hour or two or even three hours every night. He used to wake two to seven times a night as well.

He recently went to a large, (about 75 people), noisy birthday party and stayed calm, relaxed and had fun for over two hours. This is truly remarkable for Gavin. Even as recently as Easter dinner this year, we had a disastrous day, when at a big family dinner, Gavin ran off and had to be chased. My husband and he missed the beginning of the meal and Gavin and I missed dessert, while chasing down our frantic child, who could not bear to be with that many people at once.

Gavin is now talking in long, complex sentences, instead of one or two words at a time, also a huge shift. He is self- correcting his speech and practicing new sounds on his own. He is now able to amuse himself and play inside or outside without needing someone with him. This may not sound like much, but as he is 8 ½ years old, it is really a relief to us! His grandparents have been thrilled to talk to him on the phone long distance. He chats easily now and speaks clearly enough for both of them to understand, and they are both hard-of-hearing!

We still have times when he acts out, but the times are fewer, less frequent and of less intensity when they do come. There is light at the end of the tunnel now, and believe me, it wasn’t there at all for a while! MAXAM has been a true breakthrough for Gavin. We are getting somewhere at last. He deserves to be a happy boy who can enjoy life. It also feels so good to know that we are doing something healthy to heal our child and to give him a better life. Thanks to all of you folks at MAXAM, and your excellent products, he is well on his way. We are so grateful for all of your time, attention and caring, along with your well-made products. Gavin is truly doing so much better. It is as if our entire life is getting a healing!
